Great article in the St Louis Post Dispatch about local St Louis MMA Pro Joaquin Buckley:
Bellator president Scott Coker confirmed a pathway to get to fight for the organization Wednesday night.
Shamrock Fighting Championships, which is partnering with Bellator to bring events to St. Louis and Kansas City, will be able to funnel its champions into Bellator.
Any SFC pro title holder will receive a Bellator contract. If they fight on the undercard the base purse will be $3,000 to show/$3,000 to win. If the bout makes it onto the televised main card, the base bumps to $8,000/$8,000. Another bonus is there are no sponsorship restrictions in Bellator.
SFC will have two titles up for grabs this weekend at SFC: Shock held at the Kansas City Ameristar Casino. Sometime-boxer Jacob Akin will challenge “The Hard Hitting Hillbilly” Kevin Croom for the Shamrock bantamweight title. St. Louis’ Josh Weston will travel west on I-70 to take on KC fan favorite Rudy Bears in the main event for the welterweight title.
Coker was announced as the new Bellator president in June, 2014.
Bellator kicks off 2015 on Friday with Bellator 132: Pitbull vs. Straus and will feature a new monthly format for this calendar year. It is a significant change from the previous Bellator schedule of one event per week during three seasons.

Shamrock FC: Force – Preview
By Brett Auten | Knuckle Junkies
One of the Midwest’s busiest promotions gets 2015 started in St. Louis on the last day of January.
Shamrock Fighting Championships: Force sees the return of Lucas Lopes to town. Lopes, of the 47 pro fights, hasn’t fought in STL since March of 2013. He will welcome Indiana’s Keith Smetana to the Lumiere Casino in a middleweight title contention fight.
Talented lightweight Garrett Gross makes his return under the SFC banner when he faces Colton Creason in the co-main event. Gross last fought in April against Sal Woods in a fight that was nominated for Pro Fight of the Year in the St. Louis MMA awards. Creason has three submission victories already in his young career.
Bantamweights Fazlo Mulabitinovic and Shane Shomidie meet on the main card. Shomidie is coming off a summer win over Lance DeClue for SFC last June.
Two more 185-pound bouts close out the main card as Clay Mitchell face Bo Smith and Tom Baker takes on Eric Crittendon. Baker has an incredible ground game that has rarely gets showcased, while Crittendon last saw action with a victory against Marc Godeker (a common opponent for the two.)
The headline bout of the undercard is definitely main card worthy.
In a bout that was originally to take place at the November Fight Hard before an illness forced a last minute cancellation, Jordan Dowdy will face Brandon Karcher. The two welterweights will tangle with the winner getting a SFC pro contract. Both fighters are considered near the top of the heap in the region.
